My name is Tanya. I live in Minsk, the capital of Belarus. I live in Gerasimenko street in a large nine-storeyed house. Our flat is on the eighth floor. Our flat is not large but it is very cosy. There are two rooms in our flat. There is a living- room and a bedroom in our flat. There is a kitchen, a bathroom and a toilet there, too.
Our living-room is light and comfortable. There is only one window in it, but it’s very large. There is modern furniture in our living-room. There is a wall-unit, a TV-set, a sofa, two armchairs and a table in the room. There is a large carpet on the floor. But there is no carpet on the wall. There are some pictures on the walls. I like to watch TV in the living-room and to play or talk with my parents in the evening there.
Our kitchen is small, but it is nice. There is a cooker there, a refrigerator, a table and four chairs. We have meals in the kitchen and my mother cooks tasty things there.
Our bathroom is clean and nice. We wash hands and face, clean teeth in the bathroom. There is a bath and a sink with hot and cold water taps there.
I like to be at home, to play, to read books. There are a lot of books in our flat. I help my parents about the house and our flat is always clean and nice. I think, there is no place like home.

My flat
My family lives in Odessa, Ukraine. We have got a four-room flat. It is not in the city center. It’s clean, quiet and cosy. Our flat is on the sixth floor. There is a bedroom, a grandmother’s room there. There is also a father’s room and an uncle’s room. My uncle is my mother’s brother.
The bedroom is big and light. It is also a living-room. There is a two-floors bed there. It is on the left from the window. My little brother and I live in a common children’s room. It is the largest in our flat. There are double table, two chairs, bookshelves and wardrobe there. I do my homework in this room.
We also have got a kitchen, a bathroom, a toilet and a balcony.
I like my flat. I spend most of my time there.

Our flat
We live in Kiev in Gorky Street on the seventh floor of a large house with all modern conveniences. Our flat consists of three rooms and a kitchen. We have got electricity, central heating, a gas-cooker, running cold and hot water, a rubbish chute and a telephone.
First there is a small hall with a rack, a mirror and a small table with a telephone on it. The three rooms of our flat are: a living-room, our parents’ bedroom and the room I share with my younger brother.
A living-room is a room for general use during the day. It is a large room with a balcony facing the park. There is a carpet on the floor and lace curtains on the windows. In the middle of the room there is a table with some chairs around it. There is a sofa with two armchairs and a low table with a TV set in one corner.
A piano stands near the wall on the left-hand side of the room.
On the right-hand side of the room there is a cupboard. There are some crystal vases, wineglasses and cups on the shelves. There is a bookcase near the cupboard.
A chandelier with three electric bulbs hangs from the ceiling.
My parents’ bedroom is not very large. There are two beds, a wardrobe and a dressing-table in the bedroom. The bedding consists of a blanket, a pillow with a pillow-case, sheets and a mattress.
On the dressing-table one can see a comb, a hairbrush and a bottle of perfume.
My room is very nice. There is a bed and a cot for my little brother. On one side of the window there is a desk (a writing table). I do my lessons at it. On the other side of the window there are some bookshelves.
Our kitchen has got a large built-in cupboard with many shelves. We keep our food-stuffs, saucepans, basins and frying-pans there. A table stands in front of the window. On the left of the table is a refrigerator. On the right is a gas-cooker. A tea-kettle stands on it. There is a little store-room in the hall. A washing-machine, a vacuum cleaner, a floor-polisher stand in it. Our flat is very comfortable and cosy.

Посреди комнаты стоит стол с несколькими стульями вокруг него. В углу находится диван с двумя креслами и низкий стол с телевизором.
В левой части комнаты возле стены стоит пианино.
Справа от комнаты находится шкаф. На полках есть несколько хрустальных ваз, бокалов и чашек. Рядом с книжным шкафом стоит шкаф.
С потолка свисает люстра с тремя электрическими лампочками.
Спальня моих родителей не очень большая. В спальне имеются две кровати, шкаф и туалетный столик. Постельное бельё состоит из одеяла, подушки с наволочкой, простыни и матраса.
На туалетном столике можно увидеть гребень, расчёску и пузырёк духов.
Моя комната очень приятная. Там есть кровать и детская кроватка для моего младшего брата. С одной стороны окна стоит парта (письменный стол). Я делаю уроки на нём. С другой стороны окна располагаются книжные полки.
На нашей кухне есть большой встроенный шкаф со множеством полок. Мы храним там наши продукты, кастрюли, тазики и сковородки. Стол стоит перед окном. Слева от стола находится холодильник. There are three rooms, a kitchen and a bathroom in my flat.
The living-room is very big and cosy. There are two armchairs, a sofa, a small round table, the TV and a wall unit in our living-room.
My parents’ bedroom is light and beautiful. There is a double bed, a wardrobe and a table with a mirror. My mom is a doctor and she enjoys painting the pictures.I like my mom’s pictures which are on the walls.
I have my own room. It is very bright and I like it very much. There is a soft bed, a desk with a lamp and a computer on it, a big wardrobe in my bedroom. Near the desk there is a small sofa and a bookshelf in my room where I keep my books and copybooks. I am a good singer and I like music very much, so there is a stereo and a CD-player in my room.
Our kitchen is very beautiful and convenient. It is not very big but comfortable. We have all modem conveniences in our house. We have gas, central heating, hot and cold running water. There is a fridge and a microwave oven in the kitchen. My family likes to get together there; we drink tea and talk to each other.
I adore my flat. There are many proverbs about house: “My home is my castle”, “There is no place like home”. I completely agree with these statements.

We have a nice flat in a new block of flats. Our flat is on the fourth floor. It has all modern conveniences: central heating, gas, electricity, cold and hot water, a lift and a chute to carry rubbish down. There are three rooms, a kitchen, a bathroom and a hall in our flat. The living-room is the largest and most comfortable room in the flat. In the middle of the room we have a square-table with six chairs round it. To the right of the dinner-table there is a wall-unit which has several sections: a sideboard, a wardrobe and some shelves.
At the opposite wall there is a piano and stool before it. Between the two large windows there is a little table with a colour TV set on it. Near the TV set there are two cosy armchairs. A small round table, a divan-bed and a standard lamp are in the left-hand corner. This small table is for newspapers and magazines. My father is used to having a rest sitting on this divan-bed reading books, newspapers, magazines or watching TV.
The bedroom is smaller than the living-room and not so light as there is only one window in it. In this room there are two beds with a bedside-table between them. An alarm-clock and a small lamp with a pink lamp-shade are on the table. In the left-hand corner there is a dressing-table with a big mirror.. In this room we have a built-in wardrobe with coat-hangers to-hang clothes on. There is a thick carpet on the floor and plain light-brown curtains on the window.
The third room is my study. It is not large but very cosy. There isn"t much furniture in it, only the most necessary. It has a writing-table and an armchair before it. In the right-hand corner there is a bookcase full of books, magazines and newspapers. A small table with a radio is standing in the left-hand corner. Near it there is a sofa with some cushions. In my opinion, the study is the best room in our flat.
But the warmest place in our flat is the kitchen, I think — the place where the whole family gathers every evening not only to have supper together, but also to speak and rest. I like the English proverb: "My home is my castle" because my flat is, indeed, my castle.

У противоположной стороны - пианино со стульчиком. Между двумя большими окнами находится маленький столик с цветным телевизором. Около телевизора два уютных кресла. В левом углу находится маленький круглый столик, диван и торшер. Этот маленький столик предназначен для газет и журналов. Папа привык отдыхать, сидя на диване, читать книги, газеты, журналы или смотреть телевизор.
Спальня меньше по размеру, чем гостиная, и не такая светлая, потому что в ней только одно окно. В этой комна-те находятся две кровати и между ними тумбочка. На тумбочке стоит будильник и небольшая лампа с розовым абажуром. В левом углу - туалетный столик с большим зеркалом. В этой комнате есть встроенный шкаф с вешал-ками для одежды. На полу лежит толстый ковер, а на окнах висят однотонные светло-коричневые шторы.
Третья комната - мой кабинет. Она небольшая, но очень уютная. В ней мало мебели, только самое необходимое. Здесь находится письменный стол с креслом. В правом углу - книжный шкаф с книгами, журналами, газетами. Небольшой столик с радио стоит в левом углу. Возле него находится диван с подушками. По-моему, этот кабинет - самая лучшая комната в нашей квартире.
Но самое теплое место в нашей квартире - это кухня, место, где вся семья собирается каждый вечер не только для того, чтобы поужинать вместе, но также и для того, чтобы поговорить и отдохнуть. Мне нравится английская пословица: "Мой дом - моя крепость", потому что моя квартира - действительно, моя крепость.
